Breathless

Both literally and figuratively. I was sprinting hard to get here before the beach closed at 8 pm. It was worth it. And I'm absolutely thrilled with my 50f1.4 lens. Wish I had a 35f1.4, but this is the next best thing.

Bounce back

Reminds me of the aquatic character from the movie 'Abyss'.

I had an acquarium full of water sitting on the table from last nights shot. Emptying and moving it seemed like a huge chore at midnight. So I added some colorful backdrop and captured my first reflection in a drop. Hope to catch up to Vandanas drop reflections someday.

Burrowing Owl

Blurred everything but the owl because the grass was too distracting.
Here is the original picture.

Mirage

Yet another attempt at the tack drop. Sharpness and noise levels aren't there yet, but I'm pleased with the composition. I think I'm beginning to get the hang of the lighting too. Someday I shall have it!

I see you

Found a grass hopper on window blinds. Wanted to see how close he'd let me before getting spooked and fly off. I can barely begin to see the compound structure of the eye at full resolution. Interesting how he had his eyes on the lens the whole time I was sneaking close :)

Splash

Orange on the outside, Blue on the inside!
Tried to get more such two-toned crowns and got some interesting patterns here

Aside, this week has been crazy at work and the next week will be crazier. Which means you may have to endure indoor shots and repetitive ideas for these two weeks :(

A feather too fine

Everytime I've gifted a bouquet of peacock feathers instead of flowers, I've run into rough weather soon after. Sad, how so fine a thing has been a harbinger of foul times.

Yet another splash

Figured, if a tack drop could give such a nice bubble, then an apple drop could only give a bigger and better bubble right? I vaguely recall seeing a TV Advertisement that shows a lemon dropped into water this way. And since I didn't have any lemons handy, an apple had to do. Ways to go before this one starts looking nice...

A walk at dusk

I decided to get rid of my RAW demons today. So I dared and took all but one of my shots in RAW. Then ofcourse I came home and realized that I don't remember where I stored the RAW conversion software that came with the camera. So I had to make do with the one jpeg I shot today :)

I'm really surprised at the reach of the 70-300mm lens. The sharpness and colors aren't comparable at all to the 50mm and 100mm primes I have, but the reach - ooh! I can't imagine what it must be like to be holding a 400mm or 600mm like Thusie and Vandana. Someday...
