On the short flight from Kathmandu to Lukla
(L-R) Prashant, Atul, Pralhad (guide), Raja, Chandra, and the air hostess.
Having an air hostess on such a small flight was almost comical. As soon as we were airborne, she walked around distributing chocolates to us kids :)
Alas! The flight turned back midway since Lukla airport closed for bad weather.
Back in Kathmandu, we managed to get a helicopter ride instead of the cancelled flight!
The amazing step-fields as seen through the helicopter on way from Kathmandu to Lukla.
After landing at Lukla airport, we were amazed at the wonderful setting for the town!
They were using an old dilapidated small airplane as a supply store cum office!
Also, in the background behind the helicopters, the steeply inclined runway can be seen cutting across the picture. This very short inclined runway is the main reason for the infamous listing of Lukla as "the world's most dangerous" airport!
The beautiful village of Rongdingma, on the opposite mountain, as seen from Cheplung village on the trail out of Lukla. Although the other village appears near enough, it's well over half-a-day to reach!
A kid looks down on me, while playing hide-n-seek in the jungle, at Nurning Ghat
A diamond in the sky!
On the way out of PhakDing.
Our first view of Mt.Everest!
From the trail itself, very close to Namche Bazaar.
A busy shopping street in Namche Bazaar

The wondeful backdrop of Namche Bazaar!
The white manne prayer wall and the delightful mountain backdrop of Namche Bazaar contrast with the rotating colorful prayer wheel
A closer and better view of Mt.Everest peak south face. It's relatively rare to view the clear peak without the usual accompaniment of clouds. The raging winds and snow drifts make the peak look ominous!
The other half of our gang - Andrew, Natasha, Michelle and Marius. Relax for a bit at lunch while admiring the view of Mt.Everest in the background
